Theatre tours

In addition to writing books I organise custom-built theatre tours in London for groups.

Shaftesbury Avenue

I’ve been arranging theatre tours in London for over twenty years, mostly for overseas student groups.

The tours include, in addition to theatre visits to the West End, the National Theatre and the fringe, backstage tours, workshops and talks from people working in the industry and a walking tour around Shakespeare’s old haunts in the City and Bankside, led by my good self.

I’ve been steeped in theatre throughout my (long) life. I have a Masters degree in Text & Performance from Birkbeck College and RADA and I have also taught and lectured in theatre to overseas students at Kingston University. My interests in particular include changes I’ve witnessed in theatre practice and in audiences throughout the decades, and theatre history and its archeology.

The remains of The Theatre, London’s first purpose-built playhouse, originally constructed in 1576 in Shoreditch. This photo featuring archeologists from the Museum of London was taken in 2010, by me.

(Theatre, in Edwardian times specifically, plays a major role in most of my novels.)
